What's the Difference Between a Ghost Hunt and a Ghost Investigation?
Ghost Hunt - going to a place were there have been no sightings of ghosts-spirits, or phenomena and trying to communicate with recorders, videos, photos, sounds, eyewitness. Older buildings are a good place to start, churches, older graveyards.
Spirit Investigation - going to a known actively haunted building, or area and recording data on video, photos, audio, temperatures, notes, interviews and other evidence to prove/disprove the existence of Spirit and if they desire to move on, a few of us will assist the Spirit(s) in moving on into the "Light" and leaving the place if they so wish.
The assistance to an owner of said building/home to remove such spirits can be: either you directly assisting the owner with the situation, or putting them in contact with experienced individuals within our group that will try to resolve the situation. Your assistance can be something as simple as educating them on what is going on and their options.
Founded in May 2007, with just 4 members, we grew in numbers. In 2007, we were the only active, real paranormal ghost investigating/hunting group established in Monroe County. There are now many other paranormal groups in this area and we will often share an investigation with them. We also share with some of the Western NY groups near Buffalo. Several of our members have their own groups and/or belong to other groups. We welcome them all and share information with them. We have always felt there is room for everyone in this area. No competition from us and no ego trips here. We're all the same, but sometimes different in our approach to ghost investigating/hunting and we all get the same results in the end... and that’s what counts!!
We meet every 4th Thursday of each month, unless otherwise noted, at the Irondequoit Public Library 1290 Titus Ave on the corner of Kings Highway, which is the continuation of N. Goodman Street, north of East Ridge Road in Irondequoit, from 7PM to 8:45PM. During warm weather, we schedule one hunt per month (unless otherwise noted on the calendar). The times and dates vary based on the venue however, investigations generally occur on a Friday or Saturday night, unless otherwise noted. We sometimes have out of town, over-night investigations.
It’s important to mention that we are not TAPS. We do not provide a TAPS experience - there are other groups in the area that do that. We never harass Spirit when we are on an investigation and do not allow members to do this. At all times, we show respect for the departed. Our group is specifically designed around friendship and experience, science and procedure and Yes, skepticism! Although many of our members are very serious about investigating and are equipped with professional equipment and use it during our investigations, we make it a point to share our time and knowledge with all members on the proper use of this equipment. We also have loaner equipment for members to use on our investigations.
