Welcome to the Rochester Paranormal Researchers Meetup Group. One of the original Paranormal groups in Rochester. Please note: For specific reasons, no one under 18 may attend our investigations or meetings. No exceptions to this. This is a private group and only members may enter the site, or see the calendar.
Our policy is that you must add a full face photo of yourself only, to help organizers and members put a face with your name. (no animals, ghosts, cartoons, friends, landscapes, just you.)
New policy on NO SHOWS as of July, 2014. Any member who is a NO SHOW will automatically be removed from membership permanently. We've dealt with this for years and it is no longer acceptable. It's unfair to other members and disrespectful to all members. If you can’t make an event, it only takes a minute to change your RSVP to a NO, or call Cookie before the event (not after) 585-415-3436.
What's the Difference Between a Ghost Hunt and a Ghost Investigation?
Ghost Hunt - going to a place were there have been no sightings of ghosts and trying to communicate with videos, photos, sounds, eyewitness. Older buildings are a good place to start, churches, older graveyards.
Spirit Investigation - going to a known haunted building, or area and recording data on video, photos, audio, temperatures, notes, interviews and other evidence to prove/disprove the existence of Spirit and to assist the Spirits in moving on and leaving the place if they so wish. The assistance can be: either you directly assisting the owner with the situation, or putting them in contact with experienced individuals within our group that will try to resolve the situation. Your assistance can be something as simple as educating them on what is going on and their options.
Founded in May 2007, with just 4 members, we grew in numbers members. In 2007, we were the only active, real paranormal ghost investigating/hunting group established in Monroe County. There are now many other paranormal groups in this area and we will often share an investigation with them. We also share with some of the Western NY groups near Buffalo. Several of our members have their own groups and/or belong to other groups. We welcome them all and share information with them. We have always felt there is room for everyone in this area. No competition from us and no ego trips here. We're all the same and sometimes different in our approach to ghost investigating/hunting and we all get the same results in the end... and that’s what counts!!
We meet monthly,year-round in the 2nd floor conference room at Barnes and Noble @ RIT in Park Point from 7PM to 9PM on the fourth Thursday of each month, unless otherwise noted. During warm weather, we schedule one hunt per month (unless otherwise noted on the calendar). The times and dates vary based on the venue however, investigations generally occur on a Friday or Saturday night, unless otherwise noted. We sometimes have out of town, over night investigations.
It’s important to mention that we are not TAPS. We do not provide a TAPS experience - there are other groups in the area that do that. We never harass Spirit when we are on an investigation and do not allow members to do this. At all times, we show respect for the departed. Our group is specifically designed around friendship and experience, science and procedure. Although many of our members are very serious about investigating and are equipped with professional equipment and use it during our investigations, we make it a point to share our time and knowledge with all members on the proper use of this equipment. We also have loaner equipment for members to use on our investigations.
