April is BLACK BUTTON EDITS Month

I'm excited about this meeting!  We'll start our evening as usual with some selected clips from those nice California-type folks at  Lynda.com, but these clips are special.  If you own any smart phone with a decent camera on-board, you won't want to miss this one!

Next we'll go over uploads taken at the Black Button Distillery shoot in March.  For those who are new, the interaction between members during these reviews can be a wonderful learning experience for anyone, both for camera and for editing skills.

Finally,  we'll demo several techniques used to turn a tiny 2"x3" black and white snapshot taken in 1952 into an 8x12 color print (both shown above at actual proportions).  Think about that box of old black and white glossies in your closet.  Now think about those special few that could become prized family heir-looms hanging on your walls after just a few hours of quality PS time.

As always, RSVP soon rather than later; and don't forget to invite a friend who might also enjoy becoming a member of RPEG!

From a newbie, I want to say thanks...I learned a lot and look forward to more in the future. The presentations were very good and helpful.

Thanks John and Stephen K. for great presentations, and to all attendees for your collective patience with our technology challenges this time. What fun!

A wealth of information as usual. The iphone clips from lynda.com were relevant whether one photographs with a phone or camera - well maybe except for the apps. Nice job by Stephen on the differences between Cannon models if I wanted to switch to the dark side ;) Totally impressed with the quality of images from the distillery shoot! Great find John, sorry I missed that one. Finally, the man behind the curtain aka Mr. Drew - well, willing to share the magic and patience in spades. Another Wednesday to remember. Great group.

Guys, here is a good example on how well the 70D does video. It also explains phase detection and contrast detection.

I especially enjoyed Steve's demonstration on transforming a small B&W snapshot into a stunning full color print.

Here's the link to that video Steve played about the total lunar eclipse this coming Monday (the forecast is for cloudy so we probably won't see it here) http://petapixel.com/2014/04/08/blood-moon-eclipse-set-to-take-place-early-on-april-15th/#more[masked]

So sorry I can't make it. I had neck surgery on 3/25 and will be laid up for a while. I'm still taking shots though. I've received some beautiful flowers and they make for some pretty shots. I also have a little bird that has been coming around everyday to say "get well soon". Hope to see you in May.

Thanks Carl! I was so excited to see it this morning. I had one in 2 weeks ago, too! I can't wait to come back to the meetings, I still have a lot to learn!

I wonder how I missed that one two weeks ago. I'm usually pretty alert to those panos. Oh well, double congrats then!

I'm looking forward to it. Just last night a friend handed me a black & white photograph of her father during World War I (yes, I, not II) and asked me to restore it. I'd love to colorize it too!

Sorry I can't make these meeting but they are on the same night as the Greater Rochester Professional Photographers meetings.
