Shoot the Pittsford Fireworks Show!

  • Sep 13, 2014 · 8:00 PM
  • Pittsford Flour Mill

In memory of our friend Carlton Hansen who loved to photograph this fireworks show, we'll get together and shoot the beautiful Positively Pittsford fireworks at 9 p.m. To give us a great place to park and plenty of time to get set up, we'll meet at 8 p.m. in the parking area behind the Pittsford Flour Mill in Schoen Place. Restroom facilities are available inside the Pittsford Flour Mill before and after the shoot.

We'll take a little hike around to a location on the far side of the canal across from the Flour Mill where we'll see the fireworks appear at 9 p.m. behind the Grain Tower and Flour Mill, reflecting in the canal water in front of us. There will be plenty of opportunity during the 20 minute show to get lots of great fireworks shots.

Yes, there is parking nearer the shooting location beside the library, but often the spaces are full, and the traffic along State Street can be tough with all the activity around the Pittsford Celebrates event. I've done this for 5 years now and found it more relaxing to enjoy the private parking I've set up at the Pittsford Flour Mill and take a nice, leisurely walk on a fall evening around to the shooting location.

Thanks again to Carl & Steve for all their help. This was a great time and helps with learning how to shoot different scenes!

Perfect weather, perfect show, nice reflections, nice folks to shoot with... it doesn't get any better than this! I wish Carlton could have been with us. He would have loved it.

I hope it doesn't rain!!! Wondering if they will reschedule the fireworks if it does rain Saturday evening?

I am hoping the skeeters won't be out if it's 51 degrees. But at least we will be comfy in long pants and jackets :-)

About 4 hours out the forecast for launch time is 53°, Partly Cloudy, PRECIP: 0%, WIND: NW at 6 mph. It looks good!

The weather forecast is "OK." The chance of rain is 40% and the temperature should be in the mid 60's with light wind. Liz, our Chairman of the Mosquito Awareness Committee, probably won't be along so you might want to bring some bug spray too.
