January is "FIRESIDE EDITING TUTORIAL" Month

In 1993 an engineer friend and co-worker said, "The IBM 486 computers on our desks are like F-14 fighter jets;  but most of us only use them to taxi up and down the runway".   Can the same thing be said for Photoshop and Lightroom today?

Let's leverage our investments in our photo-editing software by spending an evening learning new ways to use Photoshop's selections,  layer masks and blend modes - along with a special BRUSHES demo (a topic not covered at RPEG before).  For those who are new, we try always to make presentations that can benefit users of all levels:  Beginner, intermediate and advanced.

Cynthia Fay gave us a great portrait touchup presentation in November, and she's agreed to return this month to show us some more of her favorite LR tools and procedures.  If Lightroom is your editor of choice, you won't want to miss this one!

We'll also start out with a brief demo with another idea for using off-camera flash to achieve a special lighting effect.   And as  always:  Be sure to RSVP soon rather than later, and why not mention us to a friend who might also enjoy being a member of RPEG?

Both Cynthia and Stephen did a top notch job presenting their respective cataloging/editing techniques. Thank you both!

Will you be starting with LR?

Paul, I use iPhoto for storing photos, CS5 for editing, and I have Adobe Bridge CS5. I suspect there's more to Bridge than I have discovered; and it might help me with storage and cataloging. For the past few months I have been photographing our very old family photos from albums back to 1880 and restoring them. I'm using a Nikon 3100 with a Nikon 18-100, and I have several thousand files. Thanks for asking!

No, starting with a flash thing for about fifteen - then LR for about forty-five - followed by PS
