RPEG's focus is on photography and photo editing, but Meetup's focus is on getting people together face-to-face. Are you able to attend at least some of our meetings and tutorials? Do you sincerely plan to do so? If so, please continue!

Experience isn't required for membership, but we do ask that your main reason for joining be an interest in cameras and photo-editing. What editor (if any) are you using? If Photoshop, which version? Beginner, intermediate, advanced or expert?

I have 'progressed' from PH5 to CS5. without much actual progress. I guess I'm an advanced intermediate with issues- fear of layers. I can produce reasonable prints, which is what my desired end product is, but I waste a lot of time getting there.

If experienced with your program(s), how did you LEARN the program along the way? Books? Videos? In a formal school curriculum? On the job? Please be as specific as possible

I have a s---load of books (Martin Evening, Ctein, Eismann, 'for Dummies,' etc. I took a local course, CYBERLENS J Woods and J Lyon (2004). I tried some Adobe products- too much graphic arts, not really for photographers.

If experienced, what areas of photo editing do you consider your strengths? Portrait touchups? Compositing? HDR Imaging? Web? Artistic? Photo Repair? Other? Please specify.

I have been OK with limited photo repair- I'm a reasonably good cloner. I really needed to do a composting 'job' for my son's wedding and everything was an involved 'work-around.' I would like to learn some HDR, but not to create Rockwell paintings!

What are the areas where you'd especially like to increase your skills?

LAYERS, LAYERS, LAYERS; I do everything on duplicate copies as I can't deal with layers. Also I need help in setting up Lightroom 3, to catalog and then do my 'global' adjustments. I store back-ups in my office and need to back up the catalog

Introduction

I used to print B&W, since the 60's, then. slides (Cibachrome and Ektaflex) in the 80's. My computer-animating son set me up with Photoshop 10 years ago, and I bought my first digital SLR in 2004- I can clone, heal and do levels but fear layers!HELP
