A Tour of Ralph's 5 Favorite Python Modules

Python consists of the language interpreter and a set of python modules known as the standard library (stdlib). There are about 200 modules in the standard lib.

Outside of the core python distribution, there exists the Python Package Index (or PyPI), a central listing of third-party python modules. At the time of this writing, there were 25011 packages listed on PyPI -- more than any one person could ever hope to sort through and evaluate. The great majority are garbage but many of them are powerful additions to your tool belt.

This RocPY session will go through five of Ralph's favorite modules from PyPI; from the most powerful to the most magical.

Exactly which modules these are will remain a secret until the day-of and the speaker reserves the right to change his mind in the middle of the presentation.

Location Information

The map link above for our location is not sufficient, so I have a more detailed and annotated map that should be referenced:

• At the end of the hall, make another right.

• Walk to the very end of the hall past the fire doors.

• You are now at Room 407.

• Network Access Internet access is readily available.
