Gasland II - Film Screening & Talk

Have you heard about or have you been impacted by the widespread efforts to extract oil and gas from Oakland County lands?

Join us for a FREE screening of the much anticipated movie GASLAND II, a follow up to Oscar®-nominated film GASLAND, to learn more in depth about the controversial method of extracting gas and oil known as hydraulic fracturing or fracking, why natural gas can not be considered a clean source of energy and how the powerful oil and gas industry is in filmmaker Josh Fox’s words, “contaminating our democracy”.

After the film, our special guests Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash and Michigan Groundwater Association's Joe Curry will talk briefly about the impact that gas and oil drilling could have in our communities in Oakland County where oil and gas companies have been actively seeking mineral rights leases in public and private land. Learn how you can get involved in protecting our environment, property and health!

Sponsored by: Neighbors for the Protection of Auburn Hills, Food & Water Watch, Sierra Club Rochester ECOS and Earth Care Ministry at St. John Fisher Chapel University Parish.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
