FRIDAY THE 13TH IN PORT DOVER CANADA

Join 50,000 fellow bikers at Port Dover's Friday the 13th rally! Over 30 years and still growing, this year's turn-out should be huge.... This is a one day event they do every fri the 13th any time of year.
This is an all day event with about 300 or so miles of riding. I will post more details as it gets closer, as far as where and what time to meet.

Chris G is unable to do this ride and has asked me to organize the ride. We will meet in the parking lot behind McDonalds in front of Greece Ridge Mall, at 8:30 with kickstands up at 9:00. We have the options of taking route 18, route31,or route 104 to get to the border. I will check into the best route ( and welcome any input ). Last year it was hard to get food in Port Dover, everything sold out, so I woud suggest bringing food and beverages. It is about 150 miles to Port Dover so start with a full tank of gas. I will stop for fuel and a quick break when we get into Canada. I am returning the same day and plan to be back in Rochester before 8 or 9:00 pm. More info to follow.

I'd like to know the route you plan on taking in Canada.
Riding along the river on the Niagara parkway south to route 3 is a nice ride....

    • Mike A.

That would be great to ride along the Niagara thru Niagara on the Lake!

Thanks to all who braved the journey to Port Dover. We had 8 bikes go, 10 people in all. It was rainy and cold from Rochester to the border. Port Dover was packed with thousands of bikes. A good time. No rain there. On the way back at night it rained from Buffalo to Rochester, cold and a hard time seeing the road.. Thanks to David for leading the group from the border to Port Dover and to Rick, who led the way back to Rochester. A great group of people to ride with.

Have a safe fun trip. I'll be thinking of you.

We will be taking David's route to Port Dover. Route 3 is a nice route but longer and not as direct. Based on the weather forecast I think we should shorten the run as much as possible. See you all tomorrow.

Correction on my route. We will take Route 104 to Brockport and turn left onto Route 19 ( not Route 259 as posted wrong ).

    September 12, 2013

  • Jim M.

    David,
    I appreciate that.

    September 12, 2013

  • Jim M.

OK Guys and Girls, here's the plan for tomorrow. Leave McDonalds at 9:00, take Route 104 to Brockport, left onto Route 259, right onto Route 31. Meet Rick's friend in Albion around 9:45, take Route 31 into Buffalo, cross the border at the Rainbow Bridge. We will stop for fuel when we get into Canada. When we get to Port Dover we can have a quick meeting to discuss who is staying overnight and what time the same day returning members want to leave Port Dover to return to Rochester. The weather doesn't look great but I'm heading for Port Dover in the morning.

    September 12, 2013

  • Jim M.

Rick, I'll take Route 31 out of Brockport. We should be in Albion ( Routes 31+98 ) around 9:45.

    September 12, 2013

  • Jim M.

David, your route looks good. I will post tonight on which route we will be taking. I would like to take Route 31 but I also want to meet up with Rick and his friend. I'll see if I can work it out with Rick.

    September 11, 2013

    • Rick

I talked to my friend from work (Bob) and he said he will ride north out of Batavia on 98 and meet the group where 98 and 31 meet. Are we taking 31 or 31A at that point? And what is our ETA to meet at the intersection?

      September 11, 2013

  • Jim M.

Iceberg, Thanks fot the post. Hope you can make it and hope to see you there. There is a boat yard and repair shop about 1/2 mile from the town on the right. They have a parking lot for bikes in front of their building. They also have air and a battery charger for bikes. I will try to park there.
    Jim

  • Rick

I'm going to meet a friend of mine in Batavia, hence my suggestion to try 33. Jim, let me know what route you guys settle on. If you go 31 or 104 maybe we can join up with the group once we get into Canada.

this is the link to Rainbow bridge via route 31 for all to check out

    September 10, 2013

  • DavidThompson

The Rainbow bridge is really the best bridge to go over, if you look at the best way there without going thru the city of Buffalo, our best bet is route 31 straight into Niagara Falls to left on Hyde Park to a right on Lockport Street to left on 104 (main st) this will put us right on the Rainbow Bridge.

    September 10, 2013

  • Iceberg

    Jim,

Molly & I are making a "day of" decision based on weather and commitments at work. Either way, we won't be meeting the group at Ridge Road, it's just too far out of our way. We're probably getting a later start than that to take care of a couple things first thing at work. Hopefully we'll see everyone up there, and can maybe ride back with the people that are not staying.

    September 9, 2013

  • DavidThompson

Actually, I rode straight down 104 to the Rainbow bridge 2 weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon, no wait at the bridge going over and approx. 10 mins. on the way back, this is a very easy way to, and the rainbow bridge is less congested, the peace bridge at that time of day is crazy

    September 9, 2013

  • Jim M.

Rick, How about Dunkin Donuts on 136 West Main St. We have to go right by it to get back onto Route 33

    September 7, 2013

  • Jim M.

Rick, Route 33 looks good. We could leave McDonalds, go west to Manitou Rd, turn left going south to Route 33.

    1 · August 31, 2013

    • Rick

I have a friend in Batavia that would like to join us when the group passes through. Is there a location on the route that looks like a good place to join the group?

      September 7, 2013

  • Mike250

Been wanting to check out this rally for a few years now. Looking forward to it and meeting you folks Fri morning. I'm not planning on staying overnight.

    September 6, 2013

  • Chris G

I want to thank Jim for taking over this ride. Joy and I will not be able to make it we have a out of town wedding to go to
    thank you again Jim

    September 3, 2013

  • Jim M.

Hey Rick, No I didn't but if it is a good route we could go that way. We can take whichever route the group feels most comfortable taking. I believe you have your route already in your GPS.

    August 31, 2013

    • Rick

I like 33 so you avoid cutting through buffalo/Niagara falls. Peace bridge right to route 3 in Canada and its a straight shot to port Dover. Just my two cents....
      Anything but the parkway!

      August 31, 2013

  • Rick

Jim, have you considered route 33 and then into Canada via the peace bridge?

For those of you that asked about spending the night, Molly & I are planning to. Thinking about either close to the Falls, or Niagara on the Lake. Probably spend some time Saturday at one or both.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
