Mt. Woodson After Work

This is a new event for every Thursday evening from Spring to Fall.  Spring is here and we should really get outdoors, especially since we can. This meet up is for all levels.

We'll meet at Mt. Woodson. Walk down the trail to the paved road and head up the paved road.  There will be a yellow house on the left (rumored to have great smelling jasmine plants).  There will be 2 large boulders, 1 on each side of the road.  These boulders are called "Practice Boulder".  We will meet in this general vicinity.  We will head up the trail at 5:30pm.  Since we do not have a lot of daylight, I want to make the most of the time.  So, no waiting around. If you are running late, post to the meetup so we know you are coming and can give you directions to where we will be. If people can get there earlier, go for it.  You can climb Practice Boulder, or smell the Jasmine, or post a comment on the meetup as to where you will be so we can find you. There is cell coverage up there, and someone is bound to have a smart phone.  I highly recommend getting Meetup.com's phone app.

Hey everyone! Could I get someone's phone number in case I can't find everyone? I'm from Chicago and I'm not familiar with Mt. Woodson - I'm living about a five minute drive away but when I've passed by it, it appears there are about three entrances. Not sure which to go through. Also, I have my crash pad. Should I bring it?

There is a clearly marked hiking trail off of the 67 Hwy and the turnout for the fire station. This is the trail that goes up to the boulders take it up and give me a call if you get lost.

Peter, are you bringing your 2 woods on length ropes? I'll bring the full rack and anchors gear. If you still want to do the crack circuit, we should start at Elsas and then leapfrog down the road so we can get in max routes. Thoughts?

Also, I have an idea of how to do get the maximum climbing in and it sounds similar to what you are proposing. We can talk about how we want to do it on the way up.

Sounds good. I have a rope as well so we are covered.

+1. We'll meet you at the trailhead around 5:45 since we haven't been here before.

Woops - accidentally deleted my comment. I'll be attending with a couple other folks, who probably won't be climbing but will just watch. I may lend them my harness depending on how you all feel about less experienced climbers climbing. I will definitely climb though!
