Monday Night Yoga & Climbing at Mesa Rim (w/ Discount)

Hey all,

Let’s meet at Mesa Rim Climbing and Yoga Center after 4:00 p.m. and climb until the 7:30 candlelight Yin Yoga class. It's a perfect way to end the day and get a great stretch after climbing. Yin Yoga involves long slow floor poses for gently nudging away tightness in deep connective tissues of the joints. After a workout, yin poses will release and lengthen pumped muscles. If you’ve been thinking of trying a yoga class, this is a great place to start.

Come on out for yoga or climbing or best of all-- both! You might want to mention in the comments if you're looking for a climbing partner. It's also nice for lead climbers to know if there will be other lead climbers. I will match up whoever shows up and still needs a partner. It is helpful if you introduce yourself to me! I don't carry my phone while I'm climbing, so if you check in after 4:15 pm, I won't know to look for you.

If you need a partner, I’ll help you find one. If you can't find me ask the front desk staff to point me out on the wall or slackline. You can also find my picture on the staff wall or yoga teacher wall. If this is your first visit to Mesa Rim, allow time to sign a waiver and find your way around the gym. Yoga class starts promptly at 7:30 p.m. in Mesa Rim's lovely upstairs yoga studio. There is also a 4:30 Yoga Basics class and a 6:00 Vinyasa class if you'd prefer. Your day pass includes unlimited yoga and climbing so you could even do a yoga smorgasbord!

In case you didn't know, YOGA IS NOW INCLUDED with your day pass or membership, which is an awesome deal because the going rate for a class at a yoga studio is $15-20 just for one yoga class!

Remember to bring your rope if you want to lead. And beginners, THE BELAY CLASSES FILL UP QUICK! IF YOU TRY TO REGISTER THE SAME DAY YOU MIGHT NOT GET A SPOT! It is nice to be able to belay your partner, but if you don't know how, we can help you get set up on the autobelayer, and the nice people in the group are usually happy to let a newbie work in as a third. :) But you will get to climb more if you get certified to belay. See below for info and class times.

Beginning Yogis are welcome! New climbers will have to take a belay test before hitting the ropes and those interested in lead climbing should bring their own rope. If you have never climbed before, Mesa Rim offers beginner belay lessons Mon-Fri at 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm. Please call them to schedule a beginner belay lesson prior to coming to the Meetup.

Mention that you're with the Rock Climbers of San Diego Meetup group and get $2 off a day pass (regularly $17). This rate now includes climbing, fitness AND YOGA!

Once again:

Rates with your Meetup RSVP:

Climbing, Fitness & Yoga    $15 ($17 w/o meetup RSVP)

An RSVP by 4pm on event day is required to receive the discount, as they will be checking the RSVP list.

Climb on!

    Hey Guys,

I will be in Joshua Tree next week, so I will not be there to help match partners. A few members requested I still post the Meetup, so that you can use this conversation tool to find partners. Please specify if you are wanting to lead or toprope, so that you can find the right partner. It is also helpful if your profile picture shows your face. I know that shot of you on the side of the mountain is beautiful, but we can't find you in the gym with it!

You should still be able to get the Meetup discount. Since I won't be able to get the front desk a list, be prepared to show them your RSVP on your phone. Yay technology!

Have fun and I'll see you next week.

    Melissa

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
