Shelf Road!

  • April 6, 2013 · 8:00 AM

Hey let's start this anniversary weekend off right!  Anywhere in Shelf would be fine - Menses Prow, Sand Gulch, The Bank, Cactus Cliff... we just need to get in some climbing before heading over to Ben's for our annual picnic.   Since I will not be available I'm hoping someone will volunteer to host this event.

If you are signing up for this, please also join us afterward's at Ben's place. You can grab a spot on the floor if you want to stay the night.  Please also consider climbing with us on Sunday.

We'll meet out front of the Black Bear Coffee and Tea Lodge (6550 S. Academy Blvd., just west of Hwy 115) at 8:00 am for carpooling.  That should get us to Shelf no later than 9:30.  We can climb until about 5:00; that'll leave enough time to pack up and head over to Ben's place.

Ok, Laura and I will be there today. We will be running late, so we'll meet you at the Piggy Bank if we don't catch you in the Bank parking lot.

Well, since no one else has done this... How's Piggy Bank sound? So if you're carpooling meet at the Black Bear by 8 to arrive at the Bank parking lot about 9:30? I plan to drive myself and will either meet in the Bank lot or catch up at the wall.

Sounds like a sweet plan. Piggy Bank it is? I will be at the Black Bear at 8er ready to go. I have never been so hopefully others will show. I am driving from there since I will have my dog. There is room for one more without having to cuddle with a dog down there.

Piggy Bank is good. I will be at the Bank parking lot or at the wall.

I might be down around Noon. Haven't climbed in about three months so a bit out of shape. John B might make it down as well. By the way - where are we climbing, Bill? Piggy Bank? Gallery? Cactus?

I consider myself a strong "maybe" on this. If I go I'll drive myself and be trying not to get sucked into pushing the grades too much... don't need to re-injure my finger so soon.

Will meet at shelf. We just have to figure out which wall we're climbing!

I am brand new in the group and a novice climber. Thinking about coming and bringing my dog but I have never been down to shelf. I may go and camp on Friday night. Any advice or suggestions?
