The Return of the Shelf Road Shindig

This ran for several years and then disappeared. It's back, so come down to Bank campsites 1, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13 and join the party. It runs from Friday night until Sunday with a breakfast served Sunday morning courtesy of Jeff Bevan. Camp with the group or get your own site, but come by the group campfire in the evenings.

Climb during the day and make your own dinner or take a short drive into Canyon City for food. The turnout in the past has been pretty good, so help keep the tradition going.

Event Review: First, thanks to Tim for putting on a GREAT weekend! Our "sub-group" had a really fun time climbing, and the campfire party is always nice. One minor criticism if I may: We had 31 Springs folks attending, there were new people we wanted to meet and old friends to see, yet we only hooked up with six or eight out of the whole group. Two of us went down to the Piggy Bank to look, then four of us searched Cactus to the end of Spiney Ridge. We never did find the whole group. My vote would be to decide on an area before the event and post it on the site, so those coming at various times throughout the weekend can find everyone. I don't recall seeing a bulletin board in the Bank CG, but we could try to both post on the site as well as leave a note at the parking area, perhaps on a specified vehicle.

It was tough to find the group because I didn't camp and showed up late.

As of Friday afternoon the CU Alpine Club is filling up the SG group site for the weekend. The Meetup people should think about using the Bank group site.

Matt. I see that you live in Monument and are also a beginner. Do you want to carpool down?

Hey there, is there still room to camp at the group site? More than happy to chip in a few bones to pay my share.

Looking forward to this. I'll be coming down from Boulder with a rope and draws.
If anyone wants to carpool, let me know.

I fully understand the reason for the reschedule. Anybody need a climbing partner, I'm in Raton, NM, but could meet you, I'm tired of rope/free soloing! Haha. Looking to climb Saturday and Sunday (14 and 15).

Not 100% sure I'll be able to attend the rescheduled date, but will do my best to make at least one of the days. Will anyone be climbing Friday?

    September 12, 2013

Do you mean this Friday or the rescheduled Friday?

I've never climbed at the Shelf, I'm living in the Holiday Inn in Raton and plan to come up to climb and meet some folks. I take it guitars/harmonicas are welcome, as well as my dog (he is a black lab, good - well behaved crag dog). Also I'll be bringing some beers. Where are we meeting at?

    September 2, 2013

    • Jim

Sounds like beers and blues. Sign me up. I'll bring a guitar, too.

Right on, Tim!!! Big props for posting this one. Heck yeah!!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
