Announcing a new Meetup for Rock Climbers of Colorado Springs! What
: Shelf MondayWhen
: Monday, October 25,[masked]:00 AMWhere
: (A location has not been chosen yet.)
Yes, we're doing Shelf two days in a row! One for weekend warriors, and one for climbers with more "flexible" schedules, ha ha. And for anyone so inclined, feel free to camp overnight Sunday and climb both days; we're just not making the camping an official part of the meetup this time. Which walls we climb will be determined by concensus when we hook up in Canon City.
Shelf is a great sport climbing area, with stellar routes from 5.7 to 5.13. The rock is solid Limestone and most of the moderates incorporate both crack and face techniques, while being well bolted. The weather tends to be nicer than anywhere else in CO this time of year and we always have a blast. This event will be the premier of what we hope will be a regular, recurring event throughout the colder months.
Again we'll be meeting outside of Coyote's Coffee Den in the Creekside shopping center (US Hwy 50 and Justice Center Rd.) in east Canon City. You can't miss it, it's right across the street from the police station. Please note the earlier starting time for this event. I suggest that everyone coming from CO Springs meet at our regular location, Black Bear Cafe/Safeway on CO Hwy 115 and S. Academy Blvd., at 8:00 am. From there, we can carpool south and meet up with our Canon City peeps.
