Rock Creek Park on the Move: Hiking in the Park

  • Aug 9, 2014 · 11:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Rock Creek Park on the Move is a community program that aims to get more people active in Rock Creek Park and on Park trails. The Rock Creek Park On the Move scorecard is free and available to all park users who want to participate in the program. The scorecard will be distributed at scorecard events and accessible online for download.

Scorecard events are free to join and will be advertised on the Rock Creek Park and Rock Creek Conservancy website calendars. Once you complete the entire scorecard, turn it in and you will be entered into the prize raffle. For more information visit www.rockcreekconservancy.org.

Today's event will be a nice walk/hike in the park. We will enjoy the sites, meet new friends, and get some exercise! The weather should be nice so bring a friend, family member, pet, bug spray and snacks and lets go hiking!

Hope to see you all there!

Good morning, everyone! I'm a little under the weather today...I won't be able to make it this morning. Be safe & enjoy!

Jackie, I haven't "formally" hiked since I was a kid. Would you recommend covering arms and legs to avoid bug bites or will bug repellant be sufficient? Would you recommend any other advice?

Yes either that or bug spray. The bugs are bad particularly after the rain.

The hikes are anywhere from 2 to 5 miles depending on the group.

About how far/long are the hikes? I'm just getting back into exercising, so I may be a little slow going.
