It's Mods Mayday time! This year, 2014, its L.A. epicenter shall be in Long Beach.
Pretend you're Paul Weller or Jackie Trent at this dance night throwback to the fab 10-year era of 1962-71. DJs spinning mod, 1960s, boogaloo, bluebeat and Northern soul; mostly from the original vinyl. More fun if you dress the part, at least a little. Get out those parkas, skinny-tie suits, miniskirts and day-glo pink tights.
If you're going to dance, wear the right kind of shoes. Dancing is optional, no pressure. You're welcome to just sit with your drink and watch, but beware there's only a smidgen of seating. (so if you want to snag a seat, be sure to get there on the early side)
Some may find this dingy, noisy venue to be somewhat of a dive (i.e. if you prefer slick/hi-tech places like House of Blues), but actually it's very rockin' and just the right size. Also sincerely edgy artwork adorning the environs.
Free parking in venue's lot or on the street. (Do NOT park in the Auto Zone lot next door; they tow.) No cover before 9pm, but $5 after. Full bar. 21 and over; bring ID.
