From the web: Incontrovertibly one of the greatest composers of the baroque era, Antonio Vivaldi’s body of work encompasses instrumental concerti, opera and sacred choral works. Probably the most well-known of the latter is his magnificent “Gloria” that was composed for an all-female choir of the Ospedale della Pietà. Now beginning its seventh season, the Hudson Valley Chorale, together with its artistic director, Dr. Jason Tramm, will present this masterwork as the focal point of its winter concert.

As an added attraction, lyric soprano, Megan Weston will be the featured guest soprano soloist in the Vivaldi work as well as in “Adele’s Laughing Song” from “Die Fledermaus” by Johann Strauss in the lighter second set of operetta choruses. Ms. Weston is equally at home singing the standard opera repertoire of Mozart, Donizetti and Verdi, the operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan, or the oratorios of Handel, Bach, Schubert and more.

To round out the program, the chorale will turn to the Broadway stage, specifically the works of Rodgers and Hammerstein, with a medley of some of their best-loved hits. There will be something for everyone to enjoy!

Accompanying the chorale for the first time this season will be Michael Shane Wittenburg, a musician - par excellence, accomplished in concert piano, violin, and organ as well as conducting. Mr. Wittenburg has been associated with the Amore Opera and Bronx Opera companies and has performed in several recitals throughout the U.S.

Light refreshments will be served following the concert.  The concert is from 3:00-4:45pm.

DINNER option at the always welcoming and outstanding Slatterys in Piermont at 5 Round House Rd.!  Phone-[masked]-1943.  Please let me know if you plan to attend.
