I was raised a vegetarian (ovalacto-vegetarian), and have never had meat, fish, or poultry to my knowledge, in my entire life. I can't even have soup or rice cooked with chicken stock without getting violently ill. I also recently developed a severe allergy to seafood in 2008. The smell of certain fish actually causes me to break out in hives. If I'm super close to something like calamari, my throat actually starts to swell and I don't have to touch or put it near my mouth. My younger brother and sister were also raised ovalacto-vegetarian. My sister and I have both chosen to remain faithful vegetarians, but my brother began eating fish as an undergrad when he started running marathons and relay races. He felt that he wasn't getting enough of his Omega Fatty Acids. While I do eat eggs and dairy, they're not a huge part of my life For some reason animal protein does not get along with my stomach. So I avoid eating eggs outside a recipe & stick to soy or almond milk.
I injured my back resulting in 5 surgeries in less than 2 yrs, the last one less than 3wks ago. Hoping 2 connect w/like minded ppl 2 help w/easy recipes/choices 2 help my body heal. Currently rely a lot on vitamins/supplements b/c I am unable 2 shop.
