Quick and Simple Meetup?

  • January 18, 2014 · 2:00 PM
  • Marlin's house

I'm kind of sad how low the activity level is with this group, so would anyone be down for a low-key gaming session? I have Settlers and Dutch Blitz myself, but would love to try Castle Panic. I can host four to six in my apartment off Mid County Highway in Gaithersburg.

I suggested a repeat for Feb 22. Once a couple people RSVP it will become more visible.

I just tried to sign up for it but it's not showing up. I'll look again later.

Thanks everyone. I had a great time. We even had cake. It was store bought and no one ate it, but we had it. I'm so glad the table worked out so well.

We can just keep that cake as our Mascot and never eat it.

That's so wrong... And yet, so right. Like warm velvety muppet sex.

Cheers to Marlin for hosting and thanks to everyone for introducing me to warm, velvety muppet sex.

I'm going to have to cancel, sorry guys! As an aside, get your flu shots! :-D

I haven't had so much fun in a LONG time!

Ok I pinged Marlin. As a backup there is the new Gaithersburg library just down the road with free meeting rooms. I have a good sized TH close as well, but bad parking. Other ideas?

    January 16, 2014

    • Mary

Charles, are you sure the meeting rooms at the g-burg library are free?

      January 18, 2014

    • Charles

I just checked online and they do charge a fee and require advanced notice. But Marlin has sent his addy around, so we're good.

OK, I just sent each of the attendees my address. Sorry about the delay.

My phone number is[masked]-3303. (Didn't think in time to include it in the address email.)

Apparently the date fell on the coldest day of the week.

I didn't realized until I sent the emails that 11 people RSVPed as attending. I have enough chairs for everyone and plenty of games on hand. In addition to my kitchen table, I think I can improvise another table.

This was not an ideal way to plan a meetup, having the idea hanging out there so long, but I should be able to accommodate whatever happens.

      No worries. Thanks for hosting.

    • Marlin P.

munchies are always appreciated, but I'm happy if you just bring yourself, and maybe some games.

      January 17, 2014

  • Charles

Just wondering about the addy as well. I'll PM Marlin and try to find out.

    January 16, 2014

  • Mina/Pat

Btw, I'll bring Lunch Money, Cthulhu Fluxx, and Gloom. Oh, and Cards Against Humanity.

    January 15, 2014

    • Deanna

I have no games to bring, so instead I'll bring some sort of food....

      January 15, 2014

  • Mina/Pat

Was there an address sent out for this weekend? If there was I lost it. Can someone resend it to me?

    January 15, 2014

    • Deanna

      I haven't gotten it either.

      January 15, 2014

  • Charles

    Hello all.
I'll bring short and simple stuff like Catan or LOTR and some card games. Looking forward to meeting you.

FYI, I host a weekly Games Group at the Rockville United Church, 355 Linthicum Street, just behind the Twinbrook Shopping Center. It starts at 7 pm every Friday night. We offer a variety of games on-site, both new and traditional. In fact, we just recently started a weekly program to introduce Bridge to absolute beginners. Attendance is free. The typical turnout is 18. Contact me for more details.

I'd be interested. I have Love Letter, Survive, and Dixit which nice low-key games that are easy to teach.

You can always check out GCOM, Games Club of Maryland. Much bigger pool of gamers. I have been busy and I normally only play war games. My favorite game is AWAW, A World at War by GMT.

I notice this with some other meet up groups. So when was the last time the organizer post on this? Im new to board games (im play video games) but willing to learn.

    June 20, 2013

    • Jessica P.

Sorry for the lack of meet ups of late! I'm in the middle of planning a wedding, so there hasn't been a lot of time. But if anyone else is willing to host, we can help organize things. Once things quiet down, we hope to be more active.

      November 9, 2013

  • Deanna

I haven't played board games in years but I'd like to get reacquainted...

    November 9, 2013

  • Roger M.
