Scenic hike - Crampton's Gap to Harper's Ferry

This is one of the most popular and rewarding AT day hikes in this region, with good reason. It features a secluded forest ridgetop, an exhilarating vista pitching straight down into the Potomac River, and the historic Chesapeake and Ohio (C and O) Canal Towpath. Crossing the Potomac from Maryland into West Virginia, the hiker passes from the Northern states into the Southern, from the Union into the Confederacy, from one culture and climate into another.

We will meet at Harper's Ferry Park and ride at 8:30 a.m., then take a few cars over to the starting point at Crampton's Gap. This is a very scenic 10 mile loop. Please be at the parking lot by 8:30. We will be leaving to the starting place at 8:45 sharp.

Make sure you have water and plenty of snacks. Hiking boots are highly recommended. This isn't a hard hike, but isn't a hike for a new hiker or someone who is used to doing a couple mile walks.

We will most likely have a post-hike dinner somewhere.

I couldn't get anyone onboard with that, so we're meeting in Clarksburg...Clarksburg Liberty at 7:30 a.m. Get off on the Clarksburg exit make a left at the first light, go around the bend and you'll see it on your left. Park in the gravel area.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
