Come and discuss ideas about creating a vibrant community of musicians.

I am so excited about our first Meetup in Rockwall for local musicians. I can envision this community of musicians as being a great place to learn from one another, share our music, and connect with other 'like-minded' musicians. Our first meeting will be a time of getting acquainted. I value your input.

Thank you to all who attended last night's organizational meeting. Lots of great ideas surfaced. We're scheduled our next meeting for Monday, May 5th. It will be at the Rockwall School of Music, 749 Justin Rd, Rockwall at 7:00 PM. At this meeting there will be a brief time of discussion followed by a jam session. Everyone bring your instrument and at least one song to share.

I think the organizer is great, I think the concept is great. I think there's a misunderstanding of the intent with some attendants. Unless I'm missing something, the intent is to create a group of musicians interested in finding a way to grow a community of musicians that can help promote musical interest witching Rockwall county.
It seems some who attended are looking for a jam band kind of thing. Have I misunderstood the goal of the group?

There's nothing wrong with a jam band coming from or being a part of this. I just didn't think that would be the focus of the project.

I'll be happy to help anyone find a group to play with in the area. I want to see more local musicians performing in Rockwall.

Apologies but my Monday nights just got taken by an important commitment. I will be there in mid-late May when they free up again. Compliments for the good communication on when/where to meet, very helpful. Enjoy!

Should we bring instruments...or is this an organizational meeting?

Hi Steve, So glad to have you as part of our community of musicians! Since this is our first organizational meeting, it's not necessary to bring your instrument, just your ideas :) Looking forward to seeing you this coming Monday.

Oh, right I see now. I live in Rockwall and the name of the group is Rockwall Meetup for Musicians, that's why I joined....
Why is there a push to move it across the lake before we even get started? Should I leave the group? I'm not meaning to sound uninterested, but there are plenty of music related MeetUp groups in Dallas. I joined this because it is based in Rockwall.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
