Battle at Valhalla?s was another great Rocky Mountain Axis and Allies Meetup Group success! Thanks to everyone that could make it out! What a glorious day of war it was!
Things started off a little slow. Start time was noon but most players dragged in sometime between 1 and 2 pm. BUT better late than never and as it turned out it worked out fine...THIS time since we needed extra time to set up the games and learn some of the new rules. That?s right...NEW rules.
For those of us members that don?t eat sleep and drink Axis and Allies you might not be aware of this but the newest version of this great game just came out; ?Axis and Allies Europe 1940?. When this version is combined with the Axis and Allies Pacific 1940 that was released about a year ago it?s called the new ?Global Game of Axis and Allies?. Each of these two versions (AAP40 and AAE40) can be played separately or they can be played together. When played together, which is what we did this weekend for the first time, this game really is the new GLOBAL game of Axis and Allies.
There are now 9 powers in the game, neutral territories are now a viable part of the game rather than just a territory that?s ?off limits? as in versions past, there are now 127 sea zones and approximately 180 territories, as well as new rules for ?narrow sea Straits?, tactical bombers, mechanized infantry and loads of new whistles and bells.
But, as with each new version that introduces more powers, more territories, more sea zones and more new units the length of time it takes to play a complete game has also increased. But ask anyone that was there this weekend and I?m certain they?ll ALL tell you its well worth the extra time required to play such a colossal game as this new Axis and Allies Global game! I can?t say enough about this game myself, your just going to have to come and play it to believe it!
Keep an eye out for our next battle day, I plan to post it sometime in the next few days and it should be on Saturday, September 11, but I need to confirm a few things first.
Again, thanks to everyone that could make it out this weekend. It was another GREAT DAY of war mongering!
