Thanks to both Scott and Chris for both of your contributions for making this happen.
I'm wondering what everyone things about making a contribution or paying a membership fee to keep the site up. Then we can use the site to organize games (in person or online). We don't necessarily have to have one monthly like we have. I haven't been able to make it on a regular basis but I'm willing to throw money in the pot if it only means I get to play 2 times a year. To me it's worth it.

Subject: [axisallies-56] Transitions....and fate of the Rocky Mountain A&A Meetup Group
Date: Wed, 7 Apr[masked]:58:44 -0400
Hello Everyone -
First off, I wanted to let you know that we are in a state of transition as Chris has stepped down after a long period of EXCELLENT leadership, so I hope everyone will join me in thanking him for all the hard work he did, the growth realized under his leadership and all the great game days and good times he made possible.
Further I am not interested in resuming full fledged organizing. I had handed things over to Chris many moons ago as I had kind of "been there done that" and "moved on" from the organizing concept not only with this group but a few other meetup groups as well.
Therefore, I have now taken / will further undertake the following actions:
1. I have renewed for 3 months as interim organizer for the sake of continuing the group until we can determine it's fate and have an orderly transition or ending. We will definitely have at least one more game day if nothing else. 2. I would like any of you interested in stepping up as organizer to send me a note through the meetup group by April 25th and let me know your level of interest, why you would like to lead, your ideas about the game days, and what you would do the same or differently, and finally if you can swing the $72.00 per 6 month cost of organizing (game days more than defrayed this cost under Chris's leadership, but it has to be paid up front.)
3. If we have one person only step up and fully commit he will be the new organizer. If we have more than one, we'll conduct a poll election on the Meetup site here to determine the new organizer. I would show the new organizer the ropes for the first several events and how to handle all the meetup website duties, etc. It's actually pretty fun for the most part.
4. If we have nobody step up by May 1st (Mayday) I will organize a final goodbye / thank you game day/ celebration at the Inverness Bunker and announce it a month in advance.
We would have a LOT to celebrate. This fall would be 4 years of Axis & Allies game meetups this group made possible for those of us who love the game in Denver. Friendships have been formed, some awesome games were enjoyed, lessons were learned, certainly more happened than I can do justice in this email, but I am very proud of the whole experience. I honestly never thought it would get anywhere near as large and successful as it has been. To tell the truth, creating the group was kind of a creative whim on my part. I simply love the game and wanted a regular stable place / a group for guys to find to learn and play the game here. We more than succeeded in that, and I have been majorly and pleasantly surprised at the huge success.
We have significant assets - loyal gamers, and a strong core group of at least 8-10 of us, and David B's generous continued offer of facilities to play in that most meetup groups simply don't enjoy, in addition to some remaining funds.
But I have also learned sometimes that ideas and creations and entities live out their life cycle and pass their prime, and sometimes it is time to go ahead and end that chapter in life and move on. It's really up to all of you members now, it is time for you to decide. We'll either get some folks to step up or we won't, and while I would really enjoy seeing it live on for years to come, I'm also complete with either outcome.
Thanks to all for what you have contributed, learned, taught, provided and enjoyed along the way. I look forward to your reactions, responses, and maybe some volunteers to continue.
