This Meetup group is dedicated to bringing Axis and Allies fans located in the Denver metro and surrounding areas to Meetup up for Face to Face gaming of this AWSOME board game!
What is Axis and Allies?
Not sure what this game is? Then we encourage you to do a little "Google home work"; there are tons of pages out there that show you what this game is all about. Also, look at our past Meet ups to get some pictures of who we are and what we do.
In a nutshell, this is a strategy board game set during World War 2. While it’s a “historic board game” it’s by no means an extensively detailed "recreation" of WW2. For example, my tank functions the exact same way as your tank; there is no consideration placed on the “historic differences" or "exact details” between German tanks and American tanks. A tank is a tank, a plane is a plane, a sub is a sub, etc. It’s also a board game that is designed for kids 12 and up so its “easy to learn” yet difficult to master. It has a pretty steep learning curve simply because there a lot of game parts and several of “political rules”, map rules and “special rules” to learn. And, the most daunting thing about this game for new players is that playing one game can and often does require 9 or more hours of game play just to finish one game. Yes, that is more time than most people put into a single day at work but trust us it’s well worth the chunk of time required to play it!
When Do We Meetup?
We Meet up on the 2nd and the 4th Saturday of each month (unless a holiday gets in the way).
We call our Meet ups our AA Game Days. NO...we are NOT addicted to this game! Well...MAYBE we are...just a little.
We always start our AA Game Days at noon and we clean up and head home no later than midnight. Yes, 12 hours of grown adults playing a kids game!
What do We Do on AA Game Days?
Some of us get to the Grounds (the Enchanted Grounds 2) at 11 am to start setting up the two custom game tables we've built.
At noon, after we've set the couple hundred game pieces on the on the game boards, we divide players into tables and teams and then we battle each other to see if we can rewrite WW2 history.
The Grounds does NOT allow outside food to be brought in but they offer a good selection of stuff to snack on while we play and they offer a bottomless soda and coffee option that works out great for us marathon game players.
We ask players to contribute an “event fee”....what most of us call a "due). These "dues" are NOT “required” but this money helps me to offset the cost of this Meet up site ($90for 6 months) and the cost for building materials required to build our groups custom game tables.
We hope this site helps to get more players Meeting and playing this awesome game and we look forward to meeting and getting to know many more fans of this game!
Please join us anytime you can. Make sure to RSVP since we are limited to only 8 players each game day.
AND...keep my number handy (303-519-0505) in case you ever need to let us know your running late to a AA Game Day or if you just want to talk AA. I am ALWAYS ready to discuss this game!
