Looking to find good folks to share some mountain roads with. Riding by myself is fun but I am interested in finding a group with whom sharing roads will be enjoyable.
Airline pilot with irregular schedule. Ride a sport touring bike and enjoy mountains. Other than icy roads, am an all weather rider. I live just north of Parker, so getting to the mountains can take a while. You can always drop me a message to see if I am available to ride.
My first bike was a 1977 Yamaha XS650D, bought in 1979. Have been riding on and off since then. Bought a 1995 Yamaha Virago 535, gave that to my daughter, bought a 1993 Yamaha Virago 1100 to replace that, then replaced that bike with a 2006 Honda ST1300 last April. Put over 13K miles on that bike before the end of last year.
Love everything mountainous and curvy and without gravel or sand in the curves. Going straight is only to be done as an emergency measure to find more curves. Have been over most of the standard passes (Independence, Monarch, Wolf Creek, Berthoud, etc.) and loved nearly all of them. Peak to Peak and all its feeder canyons (Coal Creek, Golden Gate, Boulder, Left Hand, etc.) are where I go for longer day rides. Deer Creek and South and North Turkey Creek are my favorites when I have less time.
My wife and I did a 2200 mile trip to Arkansas last summer and an 1800 mile trip within Colorado in October. Each trip was about a week and getting back home was nice after that. Would love to do several short (2-3 day) trips this year with a group.
Not sure. Have never really done a group ride. Will have a better answer after doing a few.
