Let's spend Memorial Day weekend at the beach! Carolina Beach state park is on the North Carolina coast, 10 miles south of Wilmington, NC.
It has a marina, a secluded camping area, and is walking distance from the beach. Also close by (for anyone that is interested) is the Fort Fisher historical site, aquarium, and Bald Head Island and lighthouse is a short ferry ride away.
There are 6 miles of trails to hike and we will walk the beach and get sand between our toes .
The camping fees are $20 per night and each campsite is big enough for 5 tents (We can split the cost). Each campsite has a grill and a graveled parking area large enough for 2 vehicles - so this is car camping (no backpacks needed). We will camp Saturday and Sunday night. Bring your tent, sleeping bag, camping gear, food, etc. Fabs has extra camping gear to lend (2 one person tents and 1 two person tent, 3 sleeping bags, and 1 sleep pads), so place a note in the comments for what you would like to borrow. For those interested we will have dinner at a local seafood restaurant.
We will meet at the Roses Parking Lot. The drive normally takes 4 hours, but this will be Memorial Day weekend, so we may hit some traffic close to Carolina Beach.
So bring your smiles and positive attitudes, we will have fun!
