This month we get to capture faces. Work your magic capturing those smiles, frowns and other great expressions. Experiment with light, location and subject. Let's do our best to work with HUMANS. This is not a pet photo challenge. :)

Here are some good tips to get started!

Very nice meeting. Friendly ideas were exchanged. I especially enjoyed Paul's presentation. I am not a portrait photographer, except for my eight grandchildren, but he gave me some good ideas for outdoor lighting. Thank you Paul for your time and effort!

Good news! After the critique and picture show Paul Steele, one of our members who is an accomplished Portrait Photographer, will go cover some basics on how you can make your portraits look great — Even without all the fancy gear.

Hi Muriel! I hope you will still come to the meeting. So far Ron and I don't have any portraits either but we are still going to enjoy the meeting. Hope we see you there.

Still thinking on it Christine. I spent a lot of time on the portrait I had loaded up. It was taken in the last month and I had enjoyed working on it. It is strange because when I read at the first of the month I did not see humans specified in bold. Must have just skipped over it because it was said at the meeting that pets were ok.

Hi guys, Sorry if there was some confusion. There was no change in the middle of the game. This is as it was discussed in the meeting. As it might be a little more difficult for some of us to find willing participants (human), let's go ahead and allow pet portraits. But let's put some effort into lighting, posing and setting up the shot. The idea of a challenge is to force yourself to work on the shot. We don't want to see snapshots of sleeping animals.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
