Hearts of Darkness by Kira Brady

We're closing the year with Urban Fantasy.

Kira Brady's book Hearts of Darkness starts us off.

Publisher description:

Nurse Kayla Friday has dedicated her life to science and reason. But for her, Seattle is a place of eerie loss and fragmented, frightening memories. And now the only clue to her sister's murder reveals a secret battle between two ancient mythologies...and puts Kayla in the sights of lethally-sexy werewolf mercenary Hart. He'll do whatever it takes to obtain the key to the Gate of the Land of the Dead and free what's left of his soul. But seducing the determined Kayla is putting them at the mercy of powerful desires neither can control. And as the clock ticks down to hellish catastrophe, the untested bond between Kayla and Hart may lead to the ultimate sacrifice.

Hearts of Darkness is the first in a series.

Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is the second book of the month.

Description from author website:

Adopted by the Alpha of a werewolf pack after a rogue wolf brutally killed her parents right before her eyes, fifteen-year-old Bryn knows only pack life, and the rigid social hierarchy that controls it.  That doesn't mean that she's averse to breaking a rule or two.

But when her curiosity gets the better of her and she discovers Chase, a new teen locked in a cage in her guardian's basement, and witnesses him turn into a wolf before her eyes, the horrific memories of her parents' murders return. Bryn becomes obsessed with getting her questions answered, and Chase is the only one who can provide the information she needs.

But in her drive to find the truth, will Bryn push too far beyond the constraints of the pack, forcing her to leave behind her friends, her family, and the identity that she's shaped?

Raised by Wolves is the first in a series.

Finishing the book isn't a requirement (we're not that strict), do join us if you can or we'll see you next time.

Not sure if I will make it tonight. Can't shake this awful cold, and don't want to share it. Have a wonderful time tonight if I don't see everyone.

I'm really exhausted and I haven't had time to read the books, so I think I'll skip this month. I'll miss seeing everyone!

I don't know if I'll make it tomorrow. I'm still getting used to working and teaching and trying to keep up with laundry. :-P I miss you guys! I've enjoyed seeing Anne and Pattie recently at Teavana! Don't worry, I'll be back, so enjoy being able to talk without me interrupting you while you can!
