We're back to romantic suspense with books that have gang-related plots.
First on the list is Jill Sorenson's The Edge of Night. When a cocktail waitress is murdered on the US/Mexico border, Noah Young sees his chance at moving from gang-related crimes to homicide. Unfortunately for his career prospects, he's also falling hard for April Ortiz, a single mom and corworker of the victim.
The Edge of Night is a stand-alone novel.
The second book is Inside by Brenda Novak. Virgil Skinner has finally been exonerated after serving fourteen years for a murder he didn't commit, but he's still connected to the gang he joined in prison and they've threatened his sister and her kids. The Department of Corrections offers his sister protection, but only if Skinner infiltrates another gang in one of their supermax prisons. Chief Deputy Warden Peyton Adams is dead set against having Virgil in her prison--if for no other reason than she'd attracted to him and doesn't know how she'll protect him if things go bad.
Honestly, how many prison warden heroines do you see when reading romance?
Inside is the first book in the Bulletproof trilogy.
