Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair

An alliance between the Triad and the United Coalition means that Captain Tasha "Sass" Sebastian is serving under her former enemy, the part-human, party cyborg Admiral Branden Kel-Paten. Not everyone wants this new alliance to succeed and an unseeable threat exposes them all to mortal danger.

Games of Command is not a part of any series.

In Jayne Castle's After Dark, ghosts of a race of aliens still haunt the Earth colony of Harmony. Lydia Smith is an archaeologist who can see past the riddles left by the ghost and Emmett London needs her help. He's looking for a stolen antique. Unfortunately, their quest is complicated by murders, and an undeniable attraction to each other.

After Dark is the first in the Harmony series.

Another FYI- I just read the anthology Fire & Frost, which has an Iron Seas short story by Meljean Brook. I thought the story was great! If you're a fan of the series, you'll enjoy the story. I also read the other two stories in the anthology and really enjoyed them, even though I'd never read the other books in the series. I meant to bring this up last night and forgot. ;-)

For those who might want more info on the whole women and science fiction writing kerfluffle, this is a good article to read. In the beginning of the article she links to the most important players in the recent mess.

Oh my! Apparently Neanderthals abound in the SF community. How ironic. Thanks for sharing.
