The following chart shows what we have gone through already and what lies ahead. The dates on the chart shows when the mortgages are due to reset which is usually about five years after the loan was originally written.

Bear in mind that right now there is a number of prime mortgages that are in default due to job losses and the majority of the riskier option ARM mortgages are yet to hit their reset date.
