Ron Paul has endorsed this as the most effective mechanism outside of direct contributions for helping his presidential campaign.

Also known as:

  • Phone banking
  • Calls for Paul

Calling involves asking the party a short survey about their voting preferences for the 2012 Republican party Presidential bid. A script is provided for you to follow and a Web site makes the logistics of calling very simple.

Some strategies and tips:

  • Conduct yourself professionally as if you were speaking on behalf of Ron Paul himself.
  • Be polite and always thank the callee for their time.
  • Speak calmly, naturally, and without rushing.
  • You are not a telemarketer, you are conducting a survey, so don't be apologetic: jump right into the survey without granting the callee a chance to dismiss you.
  • Intonate your voice when referring to yourself with high regard. If you believe it, the callee will too, and will more likely participate in the survey.
  • Don't be discouraged about the prospects of grumpy callees; out of 200 calls I have only had one unruly person and I laughed after it was over. And you can ask the callee if they would like to refrain from being called in the future by selecting the "Do not call" option.
  • Remember to mention "Paid for by Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign" at the end of the call. These shameless plugs can be effective.
  • Expect to connect about 1 in 6-10 calls (that is my approximate % connect and deviation and closely matches my friends' stats).
  • Do not hang up when you are done. Instead, click the option "Enough calls for now" as you finish a call, then hang up.
  • If you get a machine or voice mail, wait for the beep then click "Voice mail" to have the campaign leave a message.
  • There is a hotline to call if you have any questions.

This process is a merely a data collection/pruning mechanism for the campaign. Many callees will not go out to vote and thus the campaign knows not to waste any more time targeting them. Also, strong Ron Paul supporters need not be bothered either, and campaign approved volunteers will eventually contact all other callees in regard to the issues they deemed important during your survey.

If you are interested in becoming a second phase volunteer, sign up to volunteer for the campaign.
