Come join us for the annual December Rondout Valley Permaculture Meetup planning meeting. Come with your ideas and suggestions for hosting next year's monthly meetups! Is there a topic you've been wanting to address with the group? This is the time to propose the topic and help plan the 2015 calendar of events. This planning meeting is an opportunity to connect with others and have fun sharing ideas and setting up topics you want to teach/ learn about.
WHAT IT MEANS TO HOST AN EVENT: You may want to present a topic at a regular monthly metup yourself. Or you can invite and host guest speakers to do a presentation or be part of a more informal roundtable discussion on a topic of interest. As event host, you will be responsible for opening the doors and setting up chairs and any necessary equipment, as well as making sure the Community Center is clean and locked up at the end of the evening. Usually, there are many hands to help. You will also be asked to make a brief statement describing the Rondout Valley Permaculture Meetup to newcomers and share some definitions of “permaculture”. You will be assisted by a script written by Ethan Roland, the Rondout Valley Permaculture Meetup founder, if you would like to have it for reference. Most event hosts also have an assistant host, so you have a team.
If you can't make it to our planning meeting on Monday Dec. 1 in person, please get your ideas to one or more of the organizers who will be attending, so we can bring them up to the group for consideration. JOINING THE RONDOUT VALLEY PERMACULTURE MEETUP: If you have received this message via e-mail, but are not yet a member of the Rondout Valley Permaculture Meetup and would like to join, you can google Rondout Valley Pernaculture Meetup and follow the prompts to join. You are welcome to attend meetup events, whether or not you have joined the meetup. However, when you join the meetup, you will automatically receive announcements of topics for our regular monthly meetups, as well as other events hosted by members of our local communities. You can also become an event organizer yourself and post announcements of an event in the community you would like to share.
WHERE AND WHEN OUR MEETUPS ARE HELD: As many of you know, our regular meetup is held on the first Monday of the month at 7:30 at the Marbletown Community Center in Stone Ridge, NY. Meetups are free. We have a donation basket on a table for voluntary donations, if people wish to make them. Traditionally, donations are offered to presenters, as well as to cover meetup expenses. We have also occasionally offered donations of appreciation to the Marbletown Community Center, which does not charge us for use of their space, including their kitchen.
