Pete,

Wait! I've got another idea. A home fracking kit! We drill for our own gas!

Subject: [RondoutValleyPermaculture] FUEL FROM FOOD WASTE

Wow, sorry about the tech glitch-I will try again- than you for your patience-

Hello all,

Why is it that I want us to talk about ethanol. There are many reasons.

1.- It is a doable, fairly simple way to make fuel, even at your home

2.-It removes a good portion of waste from the landfill- Ulster County ships its' waste 400 miles-spending millions of dollars on fuel and emitting unnecessary greenhouse gases

3.-Local fuel production DOES NOT support the increasingly difficult, expensive, polluting extraction of oil and gas from the Earth-gasoline costs $8-10/gallon in Europe-we will, sooner or later, be headed in that direction. We need less expensive, less polluting fuel to heat our homes, fuel our vehicles and other equipment.

I would not consider myself an expert on ethanol. I have been researching it for a while. I would like to share what I do know with you. Then it becomes our community choice and responsibility to carry it forward.

I see local fuel production as one way to detach ourselves from the current insanity that is happening in our government. The more we can become self-reliant, creating our own fuels, increasing our local food distribution, the less we need out of control, corporate resources. The idea is to make them less and less relevant to out lives. This can bring a sense of security. It is actually an exciting prospect. It is empowering, we can take control of our own lives.

Hope to see you Monday, 4/7, 7:30. at the Community Center in Stone Ridge, to continue the discussion.   Be well- Pete
