A Devotional Evening to Tara
This month's Chapel Hill Dance meeting celebrates Mother Tara, the Buddhist Boddisatva of Compassion with guest leader Mahhava Mekare.
Using sacred dance, mantra, and meditation, Mekare will lead us in the sublime practice of the 21 Praises of Tara in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. By contemplating the qualities of the Great Mother Tara, the afflictions that cloud the mind are dispelled. Transforming the darkness of ignorance into the radiance of wisdom, we send this energy out in a blessing for our world.
Mekare is a sacred dancer, artist, writer, bodywork therapist, and long-time teacher and performer of the 21 Praises of Tara Mandala Dance. This evening is open to all, no previous experience or special abilities needed.
The Dances of Universal Peace are simple, meditative, and joyous circle dances. They use sacred phrases, chants, movements, and music from the world's wisdom traditions. There are no performers, no audience members, and no experience is necessary!
Come be inspired by the beauty and grace of the dances and the company of dancing friends.
Dance: 7:30-9:30 PM, $5 suggested donation.
Please RSVP so we know you will be joining us. Looking forward to seeing you at the Chapel Hill Dance.
