This is a casual golf group for all levels. I want to create a fun environment for golfers (which is usually pretty easy when playing only nine holes). However, we all still need to follow proper course etiquette. You must be familiar with the standard rules of golf and proper golf etiquette. There's a lot of great information at the PGA website.
In addition to the standard rules, we will always play ready golf. Groups need to try to keep up with the group in front during games.
Players should be checked in with the pro shop 30 minutes prior to your tee time and be ready and at the tee box 15 minutes prior to your tee time. When there are multiple groups playing, sometimes last-minute changes with shuffling people and tee times around is needed, which can be caused by last-minute cancellations, no shows, and/or the pro shop sending us out earlier.
A lot of time and effort goes into scheduling outings and grouping people together. Skill level, walkers/riders, males/females, and special requests are all taken into consideration. Last-minute cancellations and no-shows cause a lot of stress and frustration when everything quickly needs to be rearranged. Frankly, I’d rather just enjoy my golf game when I’m out there.
Also, since I'm making reservations with the various golf courses, they expect people to show up during those times. Maintaining a practice of showing up for the reserved tee times will give the group a good reputation with the various golf courses and give me a much better opportunity to negotiate some great rates with them.
For beginners, please don’t feel intimidated and do let me know if you ever have a bad experience. However, you need to do what you can to keep the pace of the game moving. If you're having a really bad hole, pick up your ball and tee up at the next tee box. Other things beginners can and should be doing are:
• Tee up your ball along the fairway
• Pick up your ball after three putts
• If your ball lands behind a tree or rock, pick it up and place it in the fairway
• Pick up your ball once you’ve reached 10 strokes on any hole
Here are some great "It's Okay" rules/tips from the PGA website:
For the more experienced golfers, please know that whenever possible I try to pair beginners together. However, please be encouraging if you have a beginner in your group. We've all been there at some point, so let's help the newbies enjoy the game so they continue to play and improve their skills. Who knows? They may end up out-driving you one day.
Most important to everyone, enjoy the game, the outdoors, and the animals we'll see on the courses. And let's meet some great new people.
If anyone ever has any questions, concerns, or special requests, please feel free to private message me at any time. I will do my best to accommodate you.
Roseville 9-Hole Golfers has a 24-hour cancellation policy. Anyone who breaks this policy twice will immediately be removed from this group. (Note that this policy does not apply to any of the free public events that I post.)
