Hey, all. Have a request. Looking for two actors on short notice for a spec 30-second commercial (i.e., no comp for any of us unless we make it past rough cut with the client). Specifically, we need two males of military bearing: one a young soldier (20-ish, clean- cut), the other a much older ex-Marine (65-ish, weathered face but also clean-cut). Less about being macho in either case than about having the confidence and humility that come from seeing the world and being predisposed to serve. They'll have to supply their own wardrobe (young guy: combat fatigues/BDU; older guy jeans and work shirt, possibly a weathered jacket or cap - real US armed forces insignia on either a plus)!

Rewarding mix of pitches, screenings and commentary. Also, David Gloss provided an excellent balance of organizing and facilitating. (I confess I may have had more than my fair share of screen time. While this has its rewards, I'm keen on viewing other people's work.)

I really enjoyed my first meet up with Rough Cuts Philly. It was well organized. People (filmmakers and non-filmmakers) were open with their comments, questions, and suggestions after viewing the short films. It was interesting to learn that a good story can be told in five to seven minutes.

Loved the great work we got to see, the talented filmmakers, the introductions around the room and yes, the Indian food. :)
