This is the meeting where we don't talk about ourselves - at least directly. We talk about other authors, and how they've influenced us - or not.

This is the meeting where we get to read aloud passages that move men's souls, bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. We read lines of verse that can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death. And there I go, channeling Professor Snape again…

You may have found a paragraph in a book about writing to be particularly helpful. Bring it with you and share it. I like to have discussions involving diametrically opposing quotes by authors. Or don’t bring anything except a willingness to join in on the discussion. You’ll be participating in the time-honored tradition of authors discussing their craft. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours, eh?

Regardless, please RSVP your intent.

Regarding the Nov. 30 "Read-out" meeting, I am a fanatic fan of T.S. Eliot.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
