Drink! I suppose we should discuss the shorts as well. And introduce ourselves.

We will read J.D. Salinger's "For Esmé—with Love and Squalor" and John Cheever's "The Swimmer."  Location will be Dragonmead off of 696 in Warren.  Date is negotiable--propose something else and we'll see what works best for everyone.

Sorry couldn't make last gathering, but am jonesing to for the next: Cheever always worth revisiting and this is a good excuse to read Salinger--as he is "in the air" due to the wonderful film on PBS and because his unpubbed works will be coming out[masked]

Great time tonight, all. Thanks to everyone who made it out! Be sure to send me any short story suggestions you may have; I'll post our next meetup early next week.

Hi all: I will have a small v-card on our table tonight titled "Royal Shorts." Dragonmead does not take reservations so be sure to look out for the sign. You may also call out "Kat!" in the bar and I will wave you over. See you tonight!

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone (this sounds like a great group!), but I have a standing commitment on Wednesday evenings. I'll be sure to keep my eye out for Meetups that I can attend.

Don't forget to send an email to [masked]--I will send you a copy of the short stories.

I'm a fan of both stories but, alas, I will not be able to attend this meetup because I'll be at a different literary event that evening (a reading by Roxane Gay). I'll look forward to future meetups. Also, if anyone is interested, I host a short story discussion group that meets in Ann Arbor on the last Thursday of each month. We don't have beer but we do have short stories.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
