Training ride for Century of month folks.
In case you missed the last ride - we are a few cyclists from the metro area that like to ride long hard rides and have fun doing it. Some of us did the STP in one day (200 miles). Some of us did the Ride Around Mt Rainer in One Day classic last year (150 miles 10,000 elevation)....so we are sort of serious about our cycling addiction, but we keep it in check and Rule #1 - we look out for eachother.
heck with the rules.
This ride is a training ride - training so that we can pull off getting at least one century in per month this year. Who wants it? I do.
Saturday is 70 mostly flat miles. This should take about 5 hours total (including resting).
10am start (rolling). Show up 5 to 10 min early to socialize.
Bring a cue sheet or GPS device loaded and ready to navigate.
THE ROUTE: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2076517 (note: different route than earlier)
All the usual stuff applies - helmet, name of emergency contact, tire changing stuff and know-how, sense of humor, no drama, willingness to stick together for regrouping....etc (email me if you want more of these details)....like bike in good working order
Should I ride this ride? I'm not a bike ride classification type guy - so no ABC's to help you. Just be confident that you can 1.) keep up a fast pace for a long distance (like sustained 19mph on flat for 20 miles), or 2.) navigate yourself in case you get dropped. (normally this doesn't happen, but you should always have this in you back pocket).
About this ride: Taking off from 185th and Cornell at 10am. Photo op. Cruising out West Union riding together to Haag Lake. At Haag Lake we will chill for a minute at the store, then ride our own ride and meet back at the store after a quick lap on Haag Lake. We will then ride out together through all those back roads in Hillsboro etc.....planning to stop and get a bite to eat at mile 62 (Ochoa Hermano's - great Mexican) then pop on back.
Not planning any get-together function after the ride.
Hope to see a few people on this ride. If not......I'll enjoy this alone and share some photos as the moment moves me. Check back to the Butts on Bike (BoB) website for those...always fun and entertaining!
