Hill Climbing 101

Do you cruise along OK on the flats only to hit a hill and feel like you've dropped anchor? Can't figure out how to use all those dang gears? Want a challenge but don't know a good place to check out your hill climbing legs? Yup, I'm talkin' to YOU!

Join me for a slow shot at hill climbing. The route is mostly bike path and very low traffic streets. We'll go up the Hwy 26 bike path, then take Hewett Blvd to Fairmount where we will do a lap around Council Crest, and, if you're up to it, we'll just noodle all the way to the top of Council Crest and take in the view. The climbing is not at all extreme, but there is a fair bit of it and there are a few challenging sections. It's a lovely ride.

Please don't let me scare you. This will be a recovery day for me, sandwiched between fast, challenging rides Tuesday and Thursday. If any of you maniacs show up for this ride, I'm going to assume you want to help because you're not going to find a lot of speed.

The weather forecast is iffy, but a little rain is not going to cancel the ride. And if you show up in the rain, you get major points.

Depending on turnout, this ride will repeat.

Please note: there are no restroom facilities at the starting point.

This is now a repeating Ride! Every Wednesday through the end of October. I may not be able to make every ride, but the basic route is there and the ride will go on.. We can go longer, climb more, or less, whatever the group wants.

Paul, thanks for leading a very nice ride. To all the Wednesday 'Hill Climbers', it was nice meeting you. I'll look forward to riding with you next week.

Anybody got an idea for a nice ride this weekend?
