Bikes 4 Humanity weekly volunteer repair clinic

Bikes For Humanity PDX (B4HPDX) is a local, public charity project providing affordable refurbished bicycles to riders of all economic backgrounds.

They are a registered 501(c) non-profit whose mission is to substantially increase public access to affordable and safe bicycles while empowering self-sufficiency in bicycle maintenance and commute.  They work towards this goal by:

  • assisting bicyclists of any economic status to gain access to refurbished bicycles
  • training volunteers via professional curriculum, tools, and workspace to refurbish donated bicycles
  • joining donors, adopters, and volunteers into a single event to transition under-utilized bicycles back into service efficiently and sustainably
  • providing free bicycle tune-ups at public events

They host donation/adoption drive events that efficiently and sustainably transition under-utilized bikes back onto the streets. Volunteers also serve the community at free tune-up clinics during local events. ( Great deals on used bikes)

At the volunteer clinics listed in this event, you will be taught a professional bike repair curriculum and provided tools, and shop space so you will be learning while you help work on refurbishing donated bikes that will be given back to the community. These clinics are every Tuesday night from  7 pm to 10 pm and every Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm.  You can show up anytime during the clinic hours. All skill levels welcome!

All volunteers will receive 1-hour of free bench usage time (tools, space, coaching) to work on their own bikes after logging 2 hours volunteering for B4HPDX programs. (They also need help with computer data entry, administrative work, and promotional activities so there are other ways to volunteer to get free shop time.)

There will be no leader for this event but feel to RSVP if you want to let other members of our group know that you are going.  All you need to do is show up any Tuesday or Saturday at the location given above. I have been to this event before and was rather impressed.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
