This will get easier, right....? (EASY ride)

Time has come to get back on the bike after a long, long, long break and get started training for the great season of 2013. I am planning on doing several century and double century rides this summer, so I got to start building butt endurance

The first few rides will be slow and easy; then we will start adding on miles each week. I plan on leading rides most Sundays when I am not traveling for work.

The first ride will start at NWPT and we will ride out to Frenchman's Bar and back - roughly 15 miles of completely flat road. Here are the specs:

****************************************************

Ride leader: Marlene Holm, [masked],[masked]

Date and Time of Ride: Sunday, January 27 @ 10AM (wheels rolling at 10)

Meeting Point: Parking lot across from NW Personal Training (NOTE: There are no bath rooms at the start)

****************************************************

The Route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1048185 (we will cut this ride a little short of what is mapped, but didn't feel like redoing the map)

Route Stats: The basic loop is 15 miles of flat road

Pace: 12-15 mph

Type of ride: This is an easy ride and we will regroup as needed - no rider left behind.

Weather Cancellation Policy: I HATE rain and the ride will be cancelled if it rains or snows

****************************************************

Mandatory for all riders.

Helmets must be worn at all times while riding. This is a requirement and not a request. Obey traffic laws and remember you’re a representative of the greater cycling community and should conduct yourself that way on the road. Represent us well!

Have their ride in good working order and bring a flat kit & the right size spare tube on all rides. If there is an issue with proper working or lack of equipment you may be asked to sit the ride out.

Please bring lights - it is grey out and we want to be seen (this is not mandatory, but strongly recommended) .

****************************************************

Hope to see you out there

If it's not flooding, it's not rain

The total route is 15 miles - it is about 7.5 out and 7.5 back. I will ride in sprinkles, but not down pour. I am headed to the gym at 8:30 and will post what the weather is like at that time.

Marlene when you say 15miles do you mean one way or is that the rt loop you're doing? Also when you say cancelled in the event of rain do you mean pouring rain or do you include showers? I see rain in the forecast tomorrow.

Wow - I am so excited to see so many riders signed up for my ride YEAH... Please note this ride is not associated with NW Personal training, we are just meeting in the parking lot across from the gym. The gym is NOT open, so there are no bathrooms at the start. Please dress warm - it will be cold and once we start moving the wind will make it even colder. At the start I will have you all provide ICE information and we will cover the basic rules of the road and how to ride as a group. Wheels spinning at 10AM no exceptions.

Wow look at all the people who want to go ride in the cold weather with me and I didn't even have to bribe them with baked goods :) Though, I will likely have a snack for everybody as we finish - come visit by my car :)

Sounds like the perfect ride for me! Can I bring my 16 year old daughter as well?

    January 8, 2013

    • Marlene

Sure you can bring your daughter. I assume she knows how to ride and the rules of the road?

      January 8, 2013

    • Helen

      Yes! She is very competent!
