What we’re about
Ready to take your road cycling skills and fitness to the next level, maybe train for a big ride? Want to meet people and learn new routes? Tired of riding alone and want the camaraderie of like-minded souls?
We might be just the right group for you! Some of us ride pretty fast, others...eh, not so much. We’re happy to share the ways of the road, from climbing hills to riding safely in a group. Our rides might challenge you, (or not!) but we’ll never drop you and leave you for dead. We look out for our own, it’s the BoB way.
In the winter the ride offerings get a little sparse, but that changes with the weather, so please keep an eye on the calendar and subscribe to email notifications. If you don’t see the rides you want, message me and I'll work on it. Think you might want to share your skills and lead rides? Yay! Get in touch. Just be aware that a certain level of experience is required.
Here are the basics: RSVP so the Ride Leaders know that you are coming and CANCEL if you change your mind; we don’t like no-shows. Arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride starts. If the group is ready to roll on time, it will do just that. Have the right size spare tube and pump to take with you on the ride even if you don't know how to use them. Contact me if you have questions about equipment
Make sure to have the ride leader’s contact info with you. It could help if you have a problem on the road.
Finally, fully read the ride descriptions! We have a truth in advertising policy: what you see is just what you’ll get. Call or email the Ride Leader before the ride if you have questions or concerns.
We are here to help make it fun!

See all- TGIF Bald Peak Panoramas: 38/3351 or 31/2500 with long/short options.Farmington Paddle Launch, Hillsboro, OR
(image from Night on Bald Mountain, Fantasia - depicted grade is inaccurate representation of the climb! And it will be sunnier in full Oregon daytime technicolor.)
Start at Farmington Paddle Launch, wheels roll at 10:30 am.
Bad weather/excessive wind may move this ride to Thursday. We'll start on the flats, warming up on Clark Hill before taking a quiet, scenic backdoor route up to the pleasant Gibbs Cemetery brief rest/water stop, then continuing up Bald Peak. It's a generally gentle, steady climb with some panorama points overlooking wine country from the highest point in the Chehalem Mountains. We'll scream down from the heights (carefully) then whoever has the time and desire can rally for Holly Hill or more with flexibility for weather, group, mechanical concerns. I'll probably aim for the Holly Hill addition but we'll see how the day shakes out.
Level: Advanced - Intermediate. Not a beginner ride. You should have some good climbing rides at a steady pace under your belt.
12.5-15 mph average pace for this hilly no-drop ride (your average pace for flatter rides should be around 16-21 mph). We'll regroup at the top of hills and a couple of other places. Climb at your own pace. Bring a layer for fun times cruising down. Guidelines for this ride are: safety, flexibility, communication.

You'll enjoy this ride if: you enjoy cycling in the forest, scenic vistas, and want to practice cranking up hills, but still have time to do other things later in the day. Or, you want to train or stay in shape for harder rides.
