Ruby LoCo Hack Night w/Bootstrap part 1

  • May 12, 2014 · 5:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This will be the first part of Erich Rainville's 2 part series on using Bootstrap with rails.  We will learn how to add the gem and start using elements of bootstrap. Everyone will get to do some light customizing.

Our hack nights are on the 2nd Monday of every month, hosted by BusyConf.

Beer and food is provided, thanks to our sponsor, Sequoia.

If anyone wants to get a head start on what I'll be playing with tonight download the simple job board app I put together here: https://github.com/TheBlueDog/Ruby-Loco-Job-Board

Once you drop it into a directory, just need to run [$ rake db:migrate] in terminal, start [$ rails server] and then pull up the page in your browser at localhost:3000.

If everything is working you should be able to use the nav links to post some filler job entries.

As much as I want to attend this one, I have to prepare for a meetup presentation that I'm giving on Wednesday, so will have to bail.

I probably asked this before ... Do I need to bring a laptop with some things installed on it? (I have netbeans installed already). Is there WiFi in case I need to download and install anything else?

I'm intending this to be part presentation, parts hands-on (or just follow along). I am running Rails 4.0.2 and Ruby 2.0.0p353.
