Melbourne Ruby Code of Conduct

Hi everyone

This is a message regarding all Melbourne Ruby events from tomorrow night onwards: we’ll be adopting the Ruby Australia Code of Conduct. It’s currently in the process of being approved, and you can read the latest draft here:
https://github.com/rubyaustralia/ruby.org.au/blob/coc/pages/code-of-conduct.html.md

Mario and I are keen to ensure Melbourne Ruby continues to be a welcoming and comfortable environment for everyone attending, and this code of conduct is just one part of that. We also support and agree with the Berlin Ruby community’s recent statement:
http://rubyberlin.org/2013-10-statement-community.html

Finally: the Inspire9 fridge is now well stocked with non-alcoholic options. Credit to the Rails Camp New Zealand team for the inspiration on this. The beer’s not disappearing, but less emphasis on it (and more alternatives) doesn’t hurt.

If anyone has any questions or comments related to this, you’re certainly welcome to discuss it on the message board in this Meetup group, or with Mario or myself in person (though I won’t be at the meeting tomorrow night - I will be at Rails Camp this weekend though).
