    Regarding recursion in Elixir, it looks like the BEAM VM doesn't have a stack depth limit. A non-tail recursive function like I was experimenting with will happily (and rapidly) consume all available memory, leaving the OS to deal with the situation as best it can (poorly, in the case of Linux).
