With the integration of the Merb project into the Ruby on Rails project, Rails 3 has changed in many ways, but remains familiar to those that have used Rails in the past. Matt Gauger has been learning Rails 3 in his spare time and will share how what he's learned about this new version of Rails. An example todo list application will be built and demoed live with deployment to Heroku, and resources for further learning will be provided.
About The Presenter
Matt Gauger gets paid to build sites in Drupal and PHP during the day, and hacks on Ruby open source projects at night. He helps produce such community events as BarCamp Milwaukee, Web414, and RubyMKE. Matt blogs at http://mathiasx.posterous.com and hasn't updated his site at http://mattgauger.com with Rails 3 yet even though he's promised to get to it "real real soon now."
Bucketworks usually keeps there doors locked. Buzz up and let them know you are there for the RubyMKE meetup, and they will let you in. We will be in the meet up space just to the left after you enter.
For those who are interested, pizza will be available at the meetup. Since we don't have a sponsor at this time, donations are appreciated.
After the Meeting
We will head down to Transfer Pizza (101 W Mitchell St, at the intersection 1st, Mitchell and Kinnichinnic Ave) after the meetup for refreshments & conversation. Everyone is welcome, and encouraged, to join us.
