Rumi and Meditation meetup! Hope you can come! Saturday, March 8th, 2 - 4 pm (2 hours). You may be there the whole time, or just as long as you like.
I'll be there for sure, and am hoping that Alan and David will be able to co-lead this Saturday meetup with me. --Amrit (aka Alice)
PLEASE be punctual and bring a donation for our hosts at the Holy Spirit Center. Their loving generosity makes this space available for us. It is polite of us as their guests to mimic their gesture by generously supporting them.
OUTDOORS - to the left of the Main Administration Building -- on the lovely grounds of the Holy Spirit Retreat Center in Encino. If the weather is inclement, we will meet in the Adminstration Building, in whichever room is vacant, so by all means come whatever the weather may be.
Everyone who wants to will be able to read a short poem by Rumi (available where we meet). It's also ok to bring your favorite Rumi poem to read. We will have an optional brief walking meditation at about 3:30 pm.
DELICIOUS CHAI TEA and herb teas will be on hand, free of charge.
DIRECTIONS: Holy Spirit Retreat Center, 4316 Lanai Rd., Encino, CA 91436 -- from Ventura Blvd, take Hayvenhurst Ave south past Libbit Ave. At the next block the road splits into 2 forks: Take the lefthand fork, which is Lanai Rd. Go uphill past Garvin Drive; the entrance to the Retreat is half-way up the hill on the left side of the road. You'll see a sign. Park on Lanai Rd near the entrance sign, and walk up into the central plaza located in the center of the Retreat buildings. From there, go to the tallest building in the plaza -- This is the Administration Building. We'll be meeting outside, to the left of the Administration Building. If you don't see us there, we'll be in the Administration Building, in whatever room is vacant.
NOTE: If you're arriving via Route 101, and you're heading northbound on 101, take the Hayvenhurst exit. If you're heading southbound on 101, you have to take the Balboa Blvd exit south (right), then left on Ventura Blvd, and right on Hayvenhurst.
There is limited handicap-accessible parking on the retreat grounds, but that parking is usually full. It's best to park on Lanai, and from there you must walk a little ways -- about the distance of a short block, and somewhat uphill -- from where we park to where we will meet.
Those who plan to arrive by bus will have several long blocks to walk from Ventura Blvd to the Retreat Center.
What fun to get together again and hear our beloved Rumi!
Love and blessings to all, Amrit
P.S. I put some photos of Holy Spirit Retreat Center in the meetup album by that name. Included are pictures of our outdoor meeting spot and the walking circle. The picture of the outdoor meeting spot may be helpful in locating us if you're coming for the first time.
