Bummed I missed this! Lamest excuse ever, ready? A cat in heat was howling out my window from 3:30-4:30am this morning and I slept right through my alarm this morning. >_< Hopefully there will be more of these meetups. I'm in the Pasadena and usually run at the Rosebowl in the mornings if anyone's in the area. Here's my RunKeeper profile: http://bit.ly/dJjJPg Happy Running! -Tim

Oh, also I tried to get a SoCal RunKeeper group going on FB a while back. Only 6 people on there and it kinda fizzled out. If anyone is interested in being an administrator for that group to try and make something more of it, please let me know.

Head here if you want to join the Facebook SoCal Runkeeper Group:

Great to see you all out today. As Meetup doesn't seem to have a way to connect to profiles on RunKeeper here's my RunKeeper profile link for those that want to keep in touch and follow each other's progress:

Great event today. I'd also be interested in doing a group run at Eaton Canyon near Sierra Madre. It's about 4-mi round trip, and there's a great waterfall at the turnaround point.

Hey couldn't find you guys, so I ran on my own. Have to try again!

An amazing run is around Dodger Stadium. You can go up in ridges - not strictly around the stadium. There's a Chinatown Firecracker (e.g., new year) 10K to goes around by the less scenic route.

I came, I saw (a bunch of other running groups), and I conquered (getting lost). I drove around for 45 minutes, lost and couldn't find you guys :( Guess it was a sign I need to train more anyways. Hope you guys had fun & see you next time. Oh, and my URL is http://runkeeper.com/user/b...

So sorry to have missed you guys! I somehow managed to get lost! If you saw a girl with an orange shirt looking for something, that was me looking for the meetup location. I did do 7 miles though, so not all was lost. I promise to find you next time!

Great work Melina! Wish we could've given you some coconut water and a banana at the finish line :( We'll see you next time!

much fun to run with a big group which I haven't done before.

I used to run with APLA in Griffith Park. We would meet in the zoo parking lot area and do the loop around past the trains and over the hill, around the golf course and then back to the parking lot. It's about 5.5 miles and hilly. There's also a trail run sort of parallel to that. I was about a 12 minute mile but haven't been running much since I got a dog - she's slightly crippled so we just walk! I can't wait to run again. See you Sat.

Representing from the Burbank group. Gonna try and be there. I'm good for whatever. I often run the Burbank side of the park, so this is right up my alley. Way earlier than I'm used to... I'm a night runner. Hope my schedule allows!

Posted by Mark Ballou July 4, 2011
    • Amara Poolswasdi's Photo

I'm a night runner too! Bring water with you...running during the morning presents some challenges (heat+humidity+sun) that us night runners barely encounter. :)

Does anyone want to unload any gently used (i.e. NOT BEAT UP) athletic shoes this Saturday? I'm considering inviting Give Your Sole (giveyoursole.com) to come out to the fun run to collect them for redistribution to area shelters. Let me know and I'll make the connection. Thanks!

We'll do our shoe drive at the next meetup! That way I can give them more of a heads up :) Save up those shoes!!

Good Morning! I hope everyone is ready for this Saturday's Global Meetup Run! Just a quick announcement, ONE Coconut water (www.facebook.com/onecoconutwater) is sponsoring our event this Saturday and will be there handing out their delicious drinks to our runners! So get your running shoes on, bring your friends, and let's have a great run!

Taking feedback before we get too many runners involved -- How many miles do you guys want to do? I'm thinking a 10K fun run (6.2 miles). Gripes or likes?

I'm also the coordinator for a charity LA Marathon team if anyone wants some details about joining it afterwards :) I'm putting together a sweet incentives package right now!

just a quick note, given how warm it has been lately, would anyone consider moving the run time up earlier so that we're not running in the heat? i was thinking more like 8am or earlier? since this is a global run, i'm OK with either.

Posted by gurlinla June 22, 2011
    • Amara Poolswasdi's Photo

Definitely a good point -- 10am was pre-set. I'll change it up to earlier and figure out the best parking/transport options.

Hmmm...maybe we'll go for a 5K 2x loop or something, so people can still do half and participate. I wonder if we could get some water/sports drink sponsors? Maybe some mini energy bars? I'll keep my eyes peeled for some sponsors since I'm running a race this weekend!

i think loops is a better idea especially for the beginners. i can see if i can help find sponsors for this =)

Posted by gurlinla June 21, 2011

loops is definitely a good idea. i am currently rehabbing from a sinus tarsi injury and will probably walk it but want to be involved for sure.

I'd definitely pass out on a 10K but I'd love to come for support
